Our family rarely goes to the farmers market anymore. Why should we? We can get the same produce at our local grocery (usually cheaper) without the hassle of driving the distance, trying to find parking, and then fighting the crowds.

bmartindale is right. I can go to the local Wal-Mart Supercenter to get the stuff they sell down in the River Market. These days when people think of the River Market District, they think about the club scene and entertainment anyway.....nobody cares about the actual "market" anymore. I can't wait until they allow us to walk down the River Market with open containers. Clubbing down there would get as good as Beale Street then!

The headline totally missed the REAL reason the farmer from Grady left. It wasn't the parking, it was because the river market is 70X pretty much what you find in Kroger or a Wal-Mart supercenter, just in a quaint, warm and fuzzy setting under the guise of "Rivermarket."

What happened with the trolley system??
