Little Rock - Pulaski County authorities say a jail inmate who escaped in a county van has been recaptured at Little Rock.
The sheriff's office says 19-year-old Marlon Lanier Watkins Jr. was taken into custody Monday afternoon in southwest Little Rock, where he was found hiding in the trunk of a car.
Watkins escaped Nov. 22. Officials say the engine of a jail van was running as a deputy waited for its interior to warm up for inmates being taken to work assignments when Watkins jumped in the van and drove off. The van and Watkins' jail garb were found abandoned about two miles away.
The sheriff's said Monday that Watkins' recapture resulted from tips about his location and a vehicle in which he was riding.
Watkins was arrested by Little Rock police on Nov. 8 on charges of possession of marijuana, obstructing government operations and use of a prohibited weapon - brass knuckles.
