Pine Bluff - The number of home foreclosures in Arkansas increased slightly last month, but is down dramatically from its 2009 high in July.
RealtyTrac, a California-based firm that reports national foreclosure figures, reports there were 1,892 foreclosures in October - one for every 680 homes. The rate ranks Arkansas 24th in the nation.
Last month's numbers are an increase from the 1,686 home foreclosures in the state in September. The foreclosure rate peaked in July with 2,251.
Benton County reported the highest rate last month, with one foreclosure for every 175 mortgages, followed by Washington, Pulaski, Saline and Sebastian counties.
