Little Rock - The Arkansas Lottery Commission has signed off on the state selling Mega Millions tickets starting next year.
The commission unanimously voted Tuesday to begin selling tickets for the multistate games by Jan. 31. Arkansas' new lottery already sells tickets for the multistate Powerball game.
Lottery director Ernie Passailaigue said he didn't know how much additional money would come into the state by adding the Mega Millions game. Arkansas has sold $71.3 million in Powerball and scratch-off tickets since the lottery launched Sept. 28.
The organizations behind the games have agreed in principle to cross-sell tickets for both games beginning next year, but have left it up to individual states to decide whether they'll participate.
