Little Rock - The Arkansas Parole Board has recommended clemency for a 76-year-old woman sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder.

The board announced Monday that it recommended that Annie Varnell Ross be made eligible for parole. Ross was convicted in Ouachita County in 1983 in the slaying of Sam Scott, her boyfriend, during a fight at her Camden home.

Ross is being held at the Wrightsville Women's Facility.

The board noted that Ross earned a high school equivalency diploma while in prison and "feels as though she has paid her debt to society."

Gov. Mike Beebe will consider the recommendation after a 30-day public comment period.

Wow-- the mind sets of the civilians that are not so law abiding themselves. I pray the GOD does it again, "what is the it?" Well i will tell you, Proverbs21;1. So many people that are not physically incarcerated always want the rod spared for them, what about those that have nothing else left to do except appreciate life for a second chance. Jesus did it for the thief on the cross awaiting his very own death. He sinned against GOD when he broke the law and we do it when we go against His word but, He forgives. Forgiveness belongs to those that ask, believe and receive. Don't be so quick to not do so, you just might be on the other end again. Free Annie Ross. Not only does time heal all wounds, time allows people to be changed, it's your choice in weither you want to become  better or bitter.
