Ex-Daycare Worker Charged With Arson, Endangerment

Documents filed in Jacksonville District Court say 24-year-old Darlene Ann Kostyk of Sherwood faces a misdemeanor count of arson and 16 felony counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. The fire on October 20th was in a heating duct and caused $400 to $500 in damage.
No injuries were reported.
Kostyk is free on bond. It was not clear whether she had an attorney.
Police say other employees at Kareer Kids daycare said Kostyk "had been disgruntled" because of complaints parents had filed against her.
An employee at the day care said no one was available for comment Wednesday night.

My child also goes to this daycare and was present when this happened and I was told the same thing about it being fire safety day and then was told the truth 2 days after. Ms Kostyk's children were in the building too, and she is a wonderful teacher and cared for these children deeply. From what I have heard another parent contacted the health department about this and they weren't even told which they were supposed to because they were supposed to have a inspection after any kind of incident.
