Man With Knife Slain by Little Rock Police

Police said the shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon when officers arriving at the scene believed the man to be a threat.
Two officers fired shots at the man, police said.
The man killed was identified by police as Landris Hawkins. Authorities say Hawkins had a history of mental illness, and was arrested in 2001 on drug charges.
Hawkins’ mother was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
