Little Rock - Both the lower White River and the Ouachita River are continuing to rise following heavy rain last week - raising worries of potential flooding.

The National Weather Service (web | news) in North Little Rock says the White River will continue rising through the end of the week. It's expected to crest at 25 feet in Georgetown in White County on Thursday.

The river is expected to reach 29 feed in Prairie County by Friday with the major flood stage being 30 feet. County Emergency Management Coordinator Sandra Patterson says residents are scared and hoping the crest doesn't top 29 feet.

The Ouachita River rose above major flood stage of 83 feet Monday and is forecast to rise above 85 feet by Friday and keep rising into the weekend. City Clerk Joyce Norwood says at least a dozen homes are threatened.
