Little Rock - Airdate: November 10th, 2008
It appears a landscaper that Seven-On-Your-Side has warned you about before is at it again.
And a Pulaski County business is getting tired of waiting for it's day in court.
Jason Pederson explains.
####
It has been almost a year since Gerald Bennett visited Burnett's Landscape Supply and Nursery.
(Jonathan Burnett/Burnett’s Landscape Supply and Nursery) “He was here to buy some plants, mulch and edging. We took him around the place. Pulled out his plant order. Had him pull around here. I had already loaded up the edging in the back of his truck.” As Burnett started to load the mulch the check machine inside the business rejected Bennett's check. When Bennett was told he would have to pay cash, Burnett says he became irate.
(Burnett) “At that time he pulled a gun out from under his seat, chambered a round into it and pointed it directly at me. That's about the time I came back inside and called the police.” (Gerald Bennett/Landscaper) “Get that camera out of my face.” Bennett was in court back in April..accused of cheating some of his landscaping customers. Now it is his landscaping suppliers who say they are being cheated.
The owners of Hocott's Garden Center say Bennett wrote close to one thousand dollars worth of hot checks two weeks ago using the business name Blue Hill Landscaping.
This will only add to the trouble Bennett is already in.
Bennett faces a slew of charges right now including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, hot checks and financial identity fraud. Although the charges stem from multiple cases, he has one December 18th trial date set before Judge Chris Piazza…a trial date that has already been delayed at Bennett's request three times.
Note: After this story aired Seven-On-Your-Side was contacted by Gerald Bennett, who claimed that on November 8th he paid Hocott’s Garden Center $1,465.00 in cash to satisfy any debts he had there. But owner Jim Mauney says that didn’t happen and is not true.
