New Developments in The Deaunta Farrow Case

New developments in the case of a 12-year-old boy who was shot and killed by a West Memphis police officer last June. The special prosecutors investigating the death of Deaunta Farrow released their report Tuesday morning at the Crittendon County courthouse.
The special prosecutors say there is not enough evidence to file any criminal charges. One of the main reasons why is they believe it was possible for a police officer to mistake a toy gun for the real thing.
For the first time the Arkansas State Police are releasing these photos from the night 12-year-old Deaunta Farrow was shot and killed by Sergeant Erik Sammis.
According to an interview with investigators Sammis said, "When the ambulance crew rolled the subject completely over, I noticed the gun to have a small orange tip on the front of the barrel. I bent over approximately 2 feet from it, and finally observed it to be a toy gun. At that moment, I felt a knot in my stomach and throat that I have never felt before."
The special prosecutors released that interview in a press conference Tuesday morning.
They also released these side-by-side comparisons of a real gun and the gun Farrow was holding the night he was killed. The special prosecutors call it a tragedy of the highest order but they believe Sammis did not commit any crimes.
(H.G. Foster, Special Prosecuting Attorney)"They did everything that they were supposed to do that night. And the department and everybody in the department has done everything I think that they were supposed to do right up until today.
The victim's family disputes the report. They maintain the boy was not holding a toy gun but a bag of chips and a soda bottle.
