It's been two years in the making, but a
Llittle Rock landmark has finally re-opened for business.
The 130 year old Capital Hotel on Markham looks brand new after 24 million dollars of renovations.
(Warren Stephens,Owner, Capital Hotel) "It's a pleasure to welcome ya'll back to this landmark. and we're excited to be open after two years almost to the day."
Owner Warren Stephens was a little bit like a proud father talking about a new addition to his family. Stephens said its amenities, services and luxury will be second to none.
(Warren Stephens,Owner, Capital Hotel) "This hotel will move Little Rock to the absolute top in terms of a luxury hotel"
The care taken during the renovation has provided the new infrastructure, while preserving the essence of the history of the hotel. For example, behind the scenes and below the surface, upgrades like the four new kitchens, and the total makeover of the plumbing, and heat and air systems, means the guests will be more comfortable.
(Charles Magill,Sales and Marketing Director, Capital Hotel) "Everything was taken down to the studs, other than the corridors, the inside of every room was taken all the way to the proverbial studs"
Magill says despite it's luxurious feel, the Capital Hotel will remain affordable. Half of the 94 rooms will start at rates below $200 a night.
That does not include the four colossal sized suites, that are the size of an average home. But if you want to save up for a luxurious night's stay, you can rent one of these suites for about $760 a night.
There's also been an effort to make the Ashley's restaurant prices as affordable as possible.
For example, there's a portion of Ashley's menu that is price controlled, so that as many people as possible can be a part of the Capital Hotel experience.
