Watch channel 7 news tonight when they show the conditions of some of these trailers after sitting there for two years. FEMA has let them go to crap and many probably wouldn't pass an inspection.
What about families in Arkansas that really need the mobile homes to live in. There are some families that are living in very bad conditions and are being looked down on because of this. We have families that are living with their elderly parents because they have no way of buying a home. The Arkansas Government needs to help the people of Arkansas.
yayagirl46 when it comes to our government helping its own people, you may as well be talking to the wall.it must not take very much to qualify to be in congress or a political leader.i have 8 year old grandkids that are smarter than they are.
Send some of these trailers out to California for the people who lost their house to the fires. (some sarcasm intended since those people probably don't want them anyway)
Now, people, think real hard on this. This is how our government operates. Think please regardless of your party affiliation or economic situation. This is the way the government handles everything. DO YOU WANT THIS GOVERNMENT RUNNING YOUR HEALTH CARE? I'm not talking party lines, I'm talking beaurocracy. This is why we do not want or need universal health care. Look who will be in charge!!!!!!!!!!
And not to mention all the hoops to jump thru to set up a trailer with electricity, water, sewage, permits, appropriate locations, etc. It's government (local, state and Federal) beaurocracy that causes these situations. There is plenty of blame to go around. Sorry Hope has to be the place to take the brunt of the problem, but it certainly does no good for Ross and Pryor to make these routine speeches to keep everyone in a constant state of angst.
Bottom line...the Federal Government is not the solution to emergency situations and social problems...they are there to protect the people, the constitution, and write checks.
Well it's interesting that this report just happened to be posted while the nation is listening to all the politicians trying to convince everyone, that they're Presidential material. After viewing the 6 P.M. News Cast on KATV and its freebie promotion by the AG making a speech for Hillary and personally handling her registration in the upcoming election, with a minute mention of the other candidates, I'm not surprised. Anything contrary to this would have been out of form. All of this whining about the trailers has been going on for two years and the real reason is never addressed. The trailers were originally brought in to provide living quarters for those who lost their homes or place they were staying, after Katrina hit. Thousands of these trailers have provided for many families that applied for them. While the statement of the flood plain is true, there is one other thing. And that is what doesn't get talked about! If one remembers back, there were thousands that remained in N.O., waiting for the disaster to hit and took advantage of the situation, to lute and steal all they could from various businesses. They could have left before the storm hit, because there was adequate transportation to get them out. Later we saw the result of when they were finally forced out of the area, first to the Super Dome and then to Houston. So all these trailers were wasted, because this culture of people didn't want them. I will agree they should have been moved out of Hope a year ago. This is just a political football now. JMO
It is ridiculous! And an eyesore. Why cant they use them for people who have lost their house to a fire or other devastating ordeal. Even set them up in places where our homeless is and allow them in out of the weather instead of lying on our streets or begging on street corners. At least they would be useful that way instead of costing us tax dollars for zilch.
