Magnolia - Flash flooding brought by heavy rain continues in southern Arkansas and in Columbia County two schools are closed.
The Magnolia and the Emerson-Taylor school districts are closed Friday and many county roads are also shut down.
Mike McNeill - the editor of the Banner-News daily newspaper in Magnolia - said 8.76 inches of rain had been recorded at the newspaper since 8:00 a.m. Thursday.
Radio station KVSA in McGehee reports a storm that hit about 3:30 a.m. Friday damaged homes and caused power outages but no injuries were reported.
Entergy Arkansas reported on its Web site thousands of power outages statewide Friday morning with more than 2,200 in the Pine Bluff area, about 1,300 in the Magnolia area and about 1,100 in the El Dorado area.
