Prescott 2 Year Old Killed by Pit Bull

Matthew Clayton Hurt was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at a hospital in Texarkana after he reportedly walked away from his babysitter's home at 708 Bemis Road, wandering into a neighbor's yard. Hurt apparently walked into the dog house of a pit bull, which then attacked him. Pescott Police Chief Brian Russell says they are still investigating, but it appears the incident is nothing more than a tragic accident.
The pit bull is currently being held at a kennel in Nashville, Ark for observation.
State Police are assisting with the investigation. Spokesperson Bill Sadler tells Channel 7 News there is no timetable for the investigation's completion. It is unclear if anyone will face criminal charges.
