Cummins - New security measures are now in place at Cummins Prison, after two prisoners escaped the facility in late May.
Biometrix scanners are now in place to verify the identity of all inmates and staff by scanning their fingerprints to ensure a person is who they say they are.
The new measures were proposed after Ryan McKinney and Michael Stephenson excaped Cummins May 29th by posing as guards. They were caught in New York four days later.
The Arkansas Department of Corrections later fired the prison's captain, a sergeant and three correctional officers, though officials say the do not believe any of those fired intentionally helped the pair escape.
The scanners are expected to be installed at Varner in the near future.
