Little Rock - Turkey hunters in Arkansas lost out on a bid to reinstate the fall turkey hunting season.
Pulaski County Circuit Judge Willard Proctor Jr. on Friday quashed a bid to allow a seven-day gun season beginning on Monday.
Clarendon lawyer David Carruth, representing a turkey hunter, says he will continue to pursue the case but acknowledged reinstatement of the hunting season was unlikely.
After Friday's hearing, Carruth urged turkey hunters to "get ready for duck season."
The state Game and Fish Commission canceled the fall season Sept. 24 because of concerns over the state's dwindling turkey population.
The spring turkey season begins in April in most parts of the state.
