Fordyce - Georgia-Pacific Corp. says it is laying off the workforce - more than 300 employees - at its plywood mill in Fordyce.
The company said in its announcement Friday that the layoffs stem from lack of demand for the product, used primarily in home construction.
The layoffs will last up to six months, according to a GP spokesman at company headquarters in Atlanta, though workers could be called back if construction activity boosts demand for the plywood.
Georgia-Pacific also operates mills in Crossett, Fort Smith and Gurdon.
