Portia - The former manager of the Portia Housing Authority in northeastern Arkansas has been arrested on allegations of fraud and theft.
Lawrence County Jail officials say 46-year-old Teri Ann Sykes was jailed Monday and later released on $,2,500 bond. She could not be immediately reached for comment and it wasn't clear whether she had an attorney.
Greg Duckworth with the Housing Authority's board of directors says Sykes is suspected of taking over $25,000 during at least a
three-year period. Authorities say an investigation began after Sykes resigned the part-time position in September and boardmembers noticed suspicious receipts and contacted the Arkansas State Police.
Duckworth says Sykes was manager of the authority for about four years.
