Jacksonville - The woman whose remains were found in Jacksonville weeks ago was identified Thursday.

Thirty-three-year-old Sandra Givens was reported missing from White County about a year ago and Thursday authorities confirmed it was her remains that were found last month in a wooded area in Jacksonville.

Sandra Ann Givens disappeared from White County October 22, 2007 leaving authorities there searching for answers.

(Woody Jones, White Sheriff’s Department) "Being an adult, it's really hard to see if they're missing or what their status is."

In her statement to police, Givens mother said her daughter had gotten into a Ford Mustang and driven to Little Rock. But months passed by and still no word from Sandra.

(Jones) "The families, your heart goes out to the families. It's just real hard for them, not knowing what happens is the big thing."

In September of this year Jacksonville police discovered human remains in a wooded area off Cody Road after receiving a tip from the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office.

The discovery led to the recent arrest of 33-year-old George Alan Smith.

On Thursday, officials confirmed the remains were those of Sandra Ann Givens. A sad reality for Givens' former neighbors who remember the woman pushing her child in a stroller down the neighborhood streets.

(Carl White, neighbor) "They were good neighbors, they would speak and they kept their place real nice."

White County authorities say they will share information with Jacksonville police as this investigation continues.
