Little Rock - The U.S. Postal Service says it has reduced from eight to four the number of Arkansas post office branches or stations being scrutinized for closure or consolidation.
A Postal Service spokeswoman said the branches removed from the list include locations in downtown North Little Rock and an Otter Creek Parkway location in Little Rock. Also spared from the list are the Johnson Station and Barling Station, which are under the Fayetteville post office.
The four still being considered for closure are the Pleasant Ridge and Aerospace Finance locations in Little Rock and the Rogers Avenue and South Fort Smith stations in Fort Smith.
Nearly 700 branches and stations across the nation were targeted by a study aimed at determining the feasibility of closing or consolidating facilities to cut costs.
