Earlier this week, the Faulkner County Sheriff's Department gave the Jacksonville Police Department information from an informant that led them to human remains in a wooded area off of Cory Drive.

Police announced on Friday that they have made an arrest in the case.
Authorities say 33-year-old George Alan Smith of Jacksonville was taken into custody late Thursday night. He is now charged with capital murder in the death of an unidentified female last year, whose remains were found this week in a wooded area in Jacksonville.
The remains were discovered within walking distance of Wright's Cabinets, where Smith worked for several years as a laborer, according to the president of the company.
On Friday, investigators were still scouring the crime scene, looking for more evidence.
(Capt. Charles Jenkins, Jacksonville Police Dept.) “The only thing I'd be at liberty to say right now is that we are not going to conclude our investigation based on the arrest of Mr. Smith. Our investigation will continue.”
The Jacksonville investigation started as a result of the Faulkner County Sheriff's Department receiving information about as many as 15 homicides in several states over the past five years.
Earlier this week, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department searched for remains just outside of Jacksonville on Ann Lane--less than a mile from Smith's home--but didn’t find anything.
Authorities will not say how many suspects they are looking into or offer any information about the informant.
Meanwhile, back at Smith's home, his sister told Channel 7 she is convinced her brother is innocent, and can't believe he now faces a murder charge.
(Tiffany Stephenson, Smith's Sister) “Anger, shock. He was set up. He was set up by the inmate that is the suspect in Faulkner County.”
Smith is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Pulaski County jail.
Channel seven has learned that Smith is listed as a potential witness for the prosecution in the upcoming trial of two men charged with a double-murder in Vilonia.
