The Governor's Mansion suffered some water damage from Hurricane Gustav last week that first lady Ginger Beebe is tending to.
She says three or four places on the mansion roof leaked, and water blew into her office.
Since Ginger Beebe and Governor Beebe moved into the mansion last year, they have made some minor changes and added their own personal touch.
The first lady had paisley wallpaper removed from the ceiling of their private dining room, and repainted "Williamsburg Blue." And they put up a poster from the movie "Patton," autographed by co-star Karl Malden. It reads: "To Governor Mike Beebe, the 'Patton' of Arkansas." Ginger Beebe says the movie is one of her husband's favorites; the couple got the autographed poster through someone who knows the actor.
The ceiling of the grand hall has been repainted beige, and mansion staff hope to have a new chandelier for it, possibly in time for Christmas. The light fixture costs about $100,000--three-fourths of that comes from state funds; the rest from a Wal-Mart company donation.
The staff also wants to get the mansion library table refinished. They say the table has a lot of scratches on it -- left over from Jet, former Governor Huckabee's dog.
