A panel says the campus shooting last winter at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was "an isolated incident" and the campus is safe.
The Chancellor's Special Committee on Campus Safety made several recommendations, however.
The panel recommended the university add two police officers to the campus police staff and six security dispatch employees, and also reinstate bicycle police patrols.
In addition, the panel suggested the school mark visitor parking clearly; control access to all parking lots with fencing and gates; install surveillance cameras on parking lots and put in panic buttons in certain offices.
It also recommended the school install door locks on classroom doors and put in a gate on Campus Drive north of University Plaza entrance.
James Earl Matthews of North Little Rock was shot February 27th on a visitor parking lot at the school. A UALR student, Matthews underwent surgery before being released from a hospital. Two people were later arrested in connection with the shooting.
