Whitewater Figure Eugene Fitzhugh Dies

A lawyer who was among the first people indicted in the Whitewater investigation has died.
Eugene Fitzhugh of Little Rock died on Tuesday. He was 81.
Fitzhugh lost his law license and spent five months in a halfway house for a misdemeanor conviction for trying to bribe banker David Hale. Hale was then-President Clinton's chief accuser in the investigation.
Fitzhugh entered a guilty plea in 1994 but he did not serve his sentence until 2000.
Fitzhugh spent a year on supervised release after completing is sentence at the City of Faith Community Correction Center.
Fitzhugh was born in Forrest City and grew up in Parkin. He is survived by his wife Linda Fitzhugh and daughter Rose Fitzhugh-Back.
A service is set for Friday afternoon.
