Fayetteville - Fayetteville council members have decided to wait to decide about whether to rezone the Washington County Livestock Sale Barn property.
The nine-acre property has been at the center of a debate about its future use. Some veterans would like to use it to expand the Fayetteville National Cemetery, while developers have proposed potential uses such as multifamily housing, restaurants or other commercial development.
Some neighbors and veterans have opposed the idea of apartments on the site.
Council members said Tuesday night more time was needed to negotiate a solution between the interested parties.
The council took no action on a proposal to rezone the site from light industrial to downtown general, which would allow for commercial development.
