Little Rock - A federal investigator says the plane that crashed Friday at Gastons White River Resort in Baxter County - killing three Missourians - was not overweight.

National Transportation Safety Board inspector Arnold Scott says the Piper Cherokee Lance was heavy, but not over gross weight. Scott says there were also no apparent problems with the engine or the aircraft. He says hot weather may have affected the plane's performance.

The crash killed 52-year-old pilot Warren Langford and his 15-year-old son Brendan of Chesterfield, Mo. Fifteen-year-old passenger Jacob Ritz of Bridgeton, Mo., died later at a Mountain Home hospital.

Two other passengers survived.
