There are 27,000 members of Sweet Adelines worldwide, making it the largest singing organization in the world—and this weekend, the local chapter will be performing in North Little Rock.
(Peggy Gram, Co-Director) “Our youngest member is 13. Our oldest won't tell--but I think the 70s are upon her. It's a wonderful group of women. Professional women to hair stylists to homemakers, home-schoolers--it's just a wide variety of women who are joined together by their love of singing."
Peggy Gram is the co-director of Top of the Rock Chorus, and has sung with the group for 43 years. She is also the international president of Sweet Adelines.
Gram says their annual performance, "Hot August Night" promises to be entertaining and fun--not only for the audience, but for all the singers as well.
(Gram) “I always say that no matter how bad I'm feeling on a day when I go to a rehearsal, by the time I leave rehearsal, I'm energized and ready to go. I always feel better after I've sung.”
The performance is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the North Little Rock High School east campus auditorium.
