With a father from Spain and a mother from Mexico, an Arkansas entrepreneur is sharing the culture of his Hispanic background by helping others.
At Arkansas Comprehensive Therapy in Little Rock, patients use the outpatient rehabilitation facility to get into their best possible health.
(John Diaz, Arkansas Comprehensive Therapy) “And that's really the whole focus--to try to do as much as we can. To bring them back to as meaningful of a life as they can.”
President and CEO John Diaz says there were no facilities like this in 2002 when he and his son--a respiratory therapist--opened this clinic. They now have four facilities, including Little Rock, Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village and El Dorado.
Born in Oklahoma, Diaz says English is actually his second language.
(Diaz) “Growing up, I spoke Spanish until I learned how to speak English--you know, in the neighborhood.”
It was that rich and caring culture in which he was raised that has helped him become the successful business owner that he is today.
(Diaz) “We're very family-oriented. And, I think the fact that my parents were really dedicated to helping people--that's what we do here. We feel that the mission we're pursuing here is that we're trying to enhance people's quality of life, and we're doing that--I think we are.”
