University of Central Arkansas President Lu Hardin will undergo surgery for eye cancer again next month, according to a memo he sent to the school's trustees.
Hardin told the school's board of trustees Thursday that he will undergo surgergy in Memphis, Tenn., on Aug. 12 and hopes to return home Aug. 19.
"Again, we are going to try and save the eye," Hardin wrote in a memo released by the university.
Hardin underwent surgery for eye cancer in 2004 to remove a malignant melanoma behind his right eye. Doctors then reported no problems.
Hardin, a former state senator, became UCA's president in September 2002.
