Authorities in three Arkansas counties have issued burn bans, citing the lack of rain and 100-degree weather hitting the state.
Jefferson County Judge Mike Holcomb said a burn ban for his county would begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Holcomb said the ban would include the cities of Altheimer, Humphrey, Pine Bluff, Redfield, Sherrill, Wabbaseka and White Hall.
The Arkansas Forestry Commission Web site shows that nearby Cleveland and Lincoln counties already have burn bans in place.
Officials hope the burn bans will limit the chance of wildfires.
