Ozark County authorities say a 22-year-old Arkansas man was shot and killed in a dispute with a landowner at a southern Missouri creek.
Sheriff Raymond Pace told the Springfield News-Leader that Alonzo Foster Jr., of Mountain Home was with seven family members for a picnic and swimming near Mammoth on Sunday. Pace says the landowner and a second man approached Foster's family. Foster was shot after an argument ensued.
Foster later died at a hospital.
The sheriff's office suspects the second man shot Foster. He's in the Ozark County Jail awaiting charges.
Pace says authorities are investigating the suspects' claims that the shooting was self defense.
