State police say a write-in candidate for sheriff in Logan County has died in a single-vehicle traffic crash.
Ronald B. Shaw of Booneville was killed in the rollover accident near Magazine on Sunday.
The 46-year-old Shaw had three daughters and four sons. A funeral was set for Thursday.
Current Sheriff Steve Smith is the Democratic nominee on the November ballot. He is opposed by Republican James Morris.
Shaw had no law enforcement experience, but his daughter Christine Coon says her father wanted to find a way to give back to the community.
