Conway - The second person in custody for the shooting death of Plumerville assistant police chief Joseph "Joey" Cannon has been released from the Conway County Jail.
Conway County Sheriff Mike Smith said Monday that the man--identified in court documents as Jerry Lankford, Jr.--was released from the county jail and will not be charged with a crime.
"He was not involved, other than just being there," Smith said. "He was just trying to get away himself" from the shooter when he fled the vehicle.

Shane Lonix, 22, 19 Rolling Pines Cove,
is accused of shooting Cannon on Friday after Cannon initiated a traffic stop on a truck Lonix was allegedly driving. Cannon was shot once in the chest. He was pronounced dead at Conway Regional Medical Center Friday morning.
