Little Rock, AR - While some employers are laying off, the Little Rock Police Department wants to add personnel. The department is hosting a recruitment event tomorrow at Arkansas Baptist College. On Friday, the LRPD honored some of its newest members. The department's recruit class graduated and is now ready to hit the streets.
(Dustin McDaniel, Arkansas Attorney General) "I thank you for committing your life to a noble cause, to a noble service."Some people sign a contract when they get a new job but Police take an oath. After 20 weeks of intense training, Little Rock's newest police officers celebrated their accomplishment. The diploma is nice, but the badges are the real reward.
(Officer Bryant King, Little Rock Police Department) "It was a roller coaster ride. It was hard, physically and mentally. But I'm happy!"Many people want what officer king has. In these troubled times the LRPD is getting a record number of applicants for this November's recruit class.
(Chief Stuart Thomas, Little Rock Police Department) "I think people are aware that law enforcement is a very good career. I think this is a good employer."Officer King was given a class leadership award. He's a different man now than he was 20 weeks ago.
(Officer King) "It's definitely changed my life. Every single one of us is changed for the better."
