Lightning Strike Sparks Conway Fire

Gathering Day Spa Employee Alicia Mauldin said she was standing by a window when the lightning strike "shook the building" and knocked her down. Mauldin said she thought she may have been electrocuted by the bolt, but didn¹t think she had been seriously hurt.
Cindy Clark, mother of the spa's owner, said employees and those at neighboring businesses noticed smoke coming from the roof about 15 minutes after the lightning strike.
The fire was largely confined to the attic, which Clark attributed to CFD's quick response, saying "they got to it very quickly; they responded pronto."
