A northwest Arkansas charter school's bid to move to Fayetteville was rejected by the state Board of Education Monday after members said it didn't provide enough information about the cost of its proposed new facility.
The board unanimously denied the Haas Hall Academy's proposal to move from Farmington to Fayetteville, about five miles away, as well as its proposals to increase its enrollment cap and add another grade.
Martin Schoppmeyer, the school's director, said the change was needed to move the school closer to its students at a time when gas prices are rising. Board members, however, criticized the school for providing little information about the cost of the proposed move or the new building.
The school had also asked the board to allow it to add 8th grade and increase its maximum number of students from 120 to 350 students.
