Little Rock - State highway officials have chosen the apparent low bidders for $84.3 million in projects to be funded by the federal stimulus package.

Officials with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department on Wednesday opened bids on 32 projects to be funded by the federal stimulus package. The projects were among 55 project bids opened.

The largest project on Wednesday was $24.8 million to build an embankment and bridges for 9.9 miles of U.S. 67 in Lawrence County.

Another large project approved was $18.8 million for improvements to the Interstate 630 and 430 interchange in Little Rock.

The state highway commission in March approved using $335.8 million in stimulus money for 103 projects across the state. The state has been allocated $351.5 million from the package for highway projects.
