Hot Springs - The city flag has been lowered from Hot Springs Mountain Tower, the latest step in a dispute in which the National Park Service wants the city to stop calling itself Hot Springs National Park.
The Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission took down the flag on Monday after it lost its appeal of the order to remove the banner.
The commission promotes the city as Hot Springs National Park, but the park service says regulations require that the name should only be used by the park. The park service says the city logo does not draw a distinction between the city and the park.
The park service also says that maps distributed at the tower need a disclaimer that the businesses named on the map are not endorsed by Hot Springs National Park.
