A federal prosecutor says a man who pleaded guilty to money laundering charges has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Robert Balfe announced the sentencing of 38-year-old Michael Brown of Crossett on Tuesday. Brown pleaded guilty in 2007 to money laundering. He'd also been indicted on drug trafficking charges.
Authorities say Brown and Carl Easter of Terrell, Texas, ran a cocaine ring that supplied drugs to El Dorado, Magnolia and Texarkana from 2001 to 2007. Easter has already been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison.
Balfe says the investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, local and state officials in Texas and Arkansas and the Internal Revenue Service.
