Federal disaster aid approved for Arkansans affected by storms, tornadoes and flooding over several weeks this spring has reached more than $11.4 million, according to state and federal officials.
The total reflects assistance related to severe weather that hit the state March 18 through April 28. Nearly 10,700 people and households have applied for disaster assistance, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.
The money goes toward housing, medical costs, personal property losses, local government services, and low-interest loans to Arkansas residents and businesses.
