Nearly a week after a tornado tore through the small town of Hensley, the roads are clear, and progress is being made with the cleanup efforts.
County officials confirm that area roads are now clear, trees are being removed, and slowly, West Hensley Road is getting back to normal.
Right in the middle of the cleanup are Pulaski County employees. Throughout the day on Thursday, they cleared, chopped and loaded debris--just like they’ve done since early April, when tornadoes struck Little Rock and Sherwood.
It is a tiring job, but one which must be done.
(Buddy Villines, Pulaski County Judge) “Unfortunately, we are getting some experience at this stuff, and our crews are just incredible the way they responded. We have been working five and ten hour days now since early April, since those tornadoes hit.”
A one-day Disaster Assistance Center will be set up Friday, May 9th, for residents of Pulaski and Saline counties. The center will be located at the Arkansas Rice Depot at 3801 West 65th Street in Little Rock, and will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Photo identification and documentation of damages will be required.
