The National Agricultural Law Center at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has published an online database on the history of the U.S. farm bill.
The center is part of the university's law school. The center created the database through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (web|news) 's National Agricultural Library.
The database includes more than 3,200 pages of information on the farm bill and its legislative history.
The first farm bill was passed in 1933, and there's been more than 60 amendments and enactments since. Lawmakers are now negotiating a $300 billion five-year farm bill that could go before the House and Senate next week.
