Three tank cars full of liquid chlorine derailed and tipped over near the Southern Arkansas University campus. The cars did not leak and no one was hurt.
Authorities said a broken rail on the Louisiana & North and West Railroad caused five cars in all to derail at about 9 a.m. Friday.
The train had a total eight chlorine tankers, which were enroute to the Albemarle Corp. plant south of Magnolia.
Magnolia Police Chief Robert Gorum says the outer wall of one tanker ruptured but the inner wall held.
The tanks aere to be drained before being moved. Gorum said it could take a few days before the overturned tank cars are removed.
Classes remained open at Southern Arkansas University. Area businesses were notified of the accident.
