A company that makes boots for the military announced Wednesday it will open a factory in Forrest City.
Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Company is to open the plant in June and says it will eventually hire 200 workers. Employees will cut material and sew, work that will be done to support two other company factories.
One of those plants is in DeWitt, where the company has 500 workers. The other plant is the company's headquarters in Belleville, Illinois.
Belleville Shoe is the largest U.S. manufacturer of military boots. The company says the new factory will enable the company to increase production to meet an anticipated 30% increase in demand.
Belleville Shoe is looking for workers with experience in sewing or leather cutting, experienced sewing machine mechanics, supervisory and support personnel. The Department of Workforce Services in Forrest City is taking job applications for the company.
