Lt. Governor Bill Halter's committee to put a state-run lottery on the ballot says it has more than $35,000 in the bank for its campaign.
The "Hope for Arkansas" campaign reported Tuesday that it raised only $30 in March, and spent $47,946, according to documents filed with the state Ethics Commission. The campaign has raised $304,661 total and has $35,141 cash on hand.
Halter is trying to gather 78,000 voter signatures to place the lottery measure on the November 4th ballot. He's estimated that a lottery could raise $100 million annually if approved by voters.
Tuesday is the deadline for committees campaigning for or against ballot measures to file monthly fund raising reports with the state.
