Heber Springs, AR -
A permit to serve alcohol at a Heber Springs business was the target of some heated discussion at a concerned citizens meeting Tuesday night. The Anderson House Inn is under renovations right now, but the ABC board has given the business a liquor permit. Despite opposition from citizens and city leaders, the permit was approved in January, and the statute of limitations to file an appeal has expired, but citizens say they will still fight it because the inn is across the street from a playground.
(Larry Thomas, Dry County Coalition) "We are really concerned about the safety of our children and our youth in this county and so that is one of the reasons we opposed the granting of this permit so much because of the location"
There are about 8 liquor permits right now in Cleburne County. Most are close near Heber Springs.
