The Little Rock River Market will be turned into a display of sculpted creativity this weekend for the Third Annual Arkansas Sculpture Invitational, put on by the Arkansas Sculptors Guild.
(Bre Harris, Arkansas Sculptors Guild) “It is a statewide show of Arkansas artists from around the state.”
Twenty-two Arkansas artists--including some student-artists--will display their work. Styles include bronze, stone, wood, ceramic, and even metal.
Organizers say, unlike most shows, they do not take a commission from the artwork sold.
(Harris) “The artists get to keep their talent and their funds. It has a great impact on our economy in our state by doing it that way.”
For the Arkansas Sculptors Guild, it's a way to educate the public about local talent--and encourage others to enjoy and learn about this visual form of art.
(Harris) “The show is for people to come, see the art, watch the artist sculpt, visit with the artist, get to know them--understand that the talent is right here in your own backyard.”
The Third Annual Arkansas Sculpture Invitational will be Saturday form 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the East Pavilion in the Little Rock River Market.
Admission is $3 for adults, and children get in free.
