The water continues to rise in Monroe County, where the White River is expected to crest on Friday.
County officials say their levy is secure, but they're still advising residents to prepare for the worst.
The White River is swelling into David Parrish's pasture, so he's moving his horses to higher ground—right down Main Street.
(David Parrish, Moving Horses to Higher Ground) “Folks kind of look at you strange because you don't have too many horses in town. We're just having to get them out before it gets too high to where we can't get to them."
Parrish isn't the only one getting ready the anticipated flooding. Entergy linemen were on the banks of the river Tuesday, removing meters threatened by rising waters.
The local sheriff's office is also getting ready, testing their boats for possible rescues later in the week. And the local county judge has been in constant contact with the sheriff about road closings. He says only a few have been shut down so far.
(Larry Morris, Monroe County Judge) “We've got sandbags on the way. Some roads are cut off. It makes us nervous--everybody here is concerned."
