A plan to build two Marriott hotels in Hot Springs off Central Avenue in the city's historic downtown has been approved by the city council.
Honest Properties LLC has filed plans to build a six-story, 100-room Marriott Courtyard Hotel and a six-story, 140-room Marriott Residence Inn.
An attorney for the developers, Ray Owen, said construction would start on the first hotel "fairly soon." For the second hotel to go up, a metal warehouse at the site on Corporate Terrace would have to be torn down first.
The plan approved Tuesday by the council calls for turn lanes to be added to Corporate Terrace and for a sidewalk to be built on
once side of the street.
