Arkansas has several music performances, dance concerts, and art exhibits, but this weekend, Ballet Arkansas is putting on a performance that includes all three art forms.
From a theatrical Argentine tango, to a jazz solo, to a song by the Beatles--to a classical pointe routine from the ballet Sleeping Beauty--Ballet Arkansas' 2nd Annual "Arts in Concert" is one of the most diverse performances in central Arkansas.
(Jenny Wittenberg Cockrill, Production Manager) “The Arts in Concert is really a place for us to get together with all the artists in Little Rock and different genres of artists.”
Production manager and choreographer Jenny Wittenberg Cockrill says the advance-level dancers and choreographers have spent countless hours preparing for the show.
(Cockrill) “Then you bring it to the stage, and you hope that everything you've tried to express through your art is carried out to the audience members, and they can feel what you're trying to say.”
The unique project also includes a variety of musicians sharing the stage with the dancers. And in the lobby, local visual artists will have their work on display.
(Cockrill) “It's really fun to bring it all on one stage. And they can pick and choose what their favorite type of performance is--whether it's singing, classical violin, or classical ballet, modern, jazz--just different styles.”
The Arts in Concert will be at Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The art exhibit opens at 6pm.
